Psoriasis can be mild, moderate or severe, depending on how much body area it covers.
The palm of the hand equals one percent (1%) of the skin.
Mild — Less than 3% of the body is affected.
Moderate — 3% to 10% of the body is affected.
Severe — More than 10% is affected.
Severity is also measured by the impact psoriasis can have on a person’s quality of life. Psoriasis can have a big impact even if it involves a small percentage of the body.
