Did you know: The Canadian Skin Patient Alliance (CSPA) developed an interactive drug coverage finder!

Canadian Skin Patient Alliance

Is My Prescription Covered?

The CSPA recognizes that determining what – if any – drug coverage is available to you and your family is a complex question. It depends on whether you have access to a private insurance plan through work, school, or a union, where in Canada you live, your family income, your age, and what condition(s) you have that the prescription would treat. Is My Prescription Covered? is an interactive tool available in English and French that enables you to determine if you have coverage for the drug prescribed by your doctor, for any condition.

How does it work?

This drug coverage finder is an interactive tool designed as a questionnaire. The tool allows you to answer a series of questions by clicking on “Yes” or “No” to help you figure out whether you’re eligible for prescription drug coverage under any federal, provincial, or territorial plans. Once you answered a question, you will be prompted to click “Continue” until you reach the end of the questionnaire.

What type of questions will I be asked?

The questions follow a specific order that reflects how the private and public drug plans work, depending on your province of residence. The questions are designed to determine:
  1. If you have coverage through a federal government plan.
  2. Your province of residence to assess which drug plan you are covered by. If you are covered by a public drug plan, the tool will guide you to the drug plan website.
  3. Your eligibility for a drug plan. Depending on your province of residence, you may not be eligible for a public drug plan. If so, the tool will help you in assessing if you could be covered by a private plan instead.
How long does it take to complete the questionnaire? Less than 5 minutes. Do I need to register for an access code? No registration is required. The drug finder is a free tool available online. Accessing the tool only requires an internet connection. Where can I learn more about the drug finder?
